What should I do???? PLease help!!!!

Hello, just wanted some advice on a very important matter... I know a guy who, not judging him or anything, says he is wiccan. He is a nice guy and all but he seems to have the wrong intentions in mind when doing spells and rituals. I have been asked, as a solitairy practicer, to bind him for his safety and the safety of others by a dear friend who is very concerned that if nothing is done this other guy may harm someone without intending to. He has the right idea but is uninformed of how the energies of the earth and all the planets work and I am worried myself that he may cause harm to someone or himself. I want to know if anyone thinks I would be going against the wiccan rede if I do this. I don't intend to harm him in any way but I do not have his permission to do this even if it is for his safety...man I hate being ethical sometimes...

First of all, have you told him you think he might be endangering himself and others? He may not realize that he isn't going about things correctly.
Also, with the three fold law, if he hurts someone, he will probably hurt himself in the process. I'm not entirely sure how the three fold law determines how you are punished or rewarded. But even still, you can remind him of the law. If he is truly wiccan, he will at least listen to this.
I don't think you should bind him, personally. But that's me. Also, I have to ask, why is it that your friend(s) haven't done anything? Why are they asking you to do all the work? Are they afraid of the consequences of taking this action? You should ask those questions, too. It might give you an answer, too.
I hope this answers your question some. Right now, I'm not even a dedicant, but plan too next year. So, I have not done any magical work yet, aside from believing that things will work out, or something like that. So, I don't have experience like others do. But, Those are some of the questions I'd ask if I were in your situation.
Good luck finding help. I'm sure someone else will have better advice, but at least you have a launching pad.

I know everyone is gonna hate me for saying this
But i think you SHOULD bind him.
I know everyone thinks that binding is bad. But it goes along the same lines as the saying of "a witch who can't hex cant heal"
You have good intentions and your not gonna hurt him by binding him and i dont think he would ever give you permission to bind him.
You would be saving himself and others from the harm that he may cause.
But i do agree with FyreGarnet that you should at least try to talk to him first.

I'm more worried about Eevee causing harm to this friend by binding him. I don't know how far she is in the magical area, and it is one of those things that she should take as many precautions as possible before doing anything. For me, at this time, binding someone would be impossible and unthinkable. But if Eevee is ready to do it, I say go for it. But be sure to ask as many questions of yourself and others before doing so.

i agree with you fyregarnet
and i was also wondering, why is this in the Reference section??

Maybe it should be under ethics.

How much trouble can he get into if he doesn't know what he is doing? He's more likely (I would think) to waste more energy than actually put it toward anything.

Actually, he can get himself into quite a lot of trouble if he doesn't know what he's doing, and as far as I'm concerned, so can Eevee. When you play around with forces you don't understand or that are beyond your control anything can happen. If her intentions are good and she protects herself from backlash, she will have to be prepared for whatever comes her way. As long as she's willing to accept that, I guess it's her call. But I agree wholeheartedly with FG about the motives of her other friends who want Eevee to be the one to do something about this guy's situation! Am wondering if it's because she's a solitaire. If they're part of a coven and they bind him, backlash would spread much further, no?? And, BTW, Eevee's original post didn't say anything at all about this guy not knowing what he was doing...she said he seems to have the wrong intentions in mind when he's doing spells and rituals. Could be he knows EXACTLY what he's doing, which then becomes very dangerous for those around him. Begs another question, then, doesn't it? Are Eevee's friends "the ones around him"??

Forgot to say that I don't have a problem with this post in References (although Ethics would be good, too!) If you view it as a referral request, or search for, a particular answer to a particular query, wouldn't you go the Reference section of your local library to get pointed in the right direction?

Crone, those questions were what I was wondering about, I just didn't know how to put them. But, I haven't seen any replies from Eevee, anywhere. So, I wonder if Eevee is evn checking here anymore. I hope that everthing is going well.

Drama, drama, drama...
Just because someone is different in their magical path, doesn't make them wrong or evil. There is a lot more out there then Wicca and most of it could be (or is) contradictory to the rede. Hell, who can truly say the follow the rede to it's fullest?
But take the Strega, for instance. They routinely threaten the Gods to have their work done, and their stuff is very powerful. Take VouDou and their sacrifices. You have ceremonial magicians who conjure up demons for their stuff...
If he isn't hurting you or trying to hurt you then leave him alone. Don't take on the role of judge, unless you are willing, ready, and able to take the consequences of your actions...
Just my $0.02. (Sorry, I get all sorts of itchy when someone has the "he has the heart, but he isn't doing it like me, so he must be wrong" type attitude.)

Here's the post that I was refering to you. Now I'm going to tell it to you straight. You people have no right to bind ANYONE, unless they are attacking you or attacking someone you love. You are not the moral guardians of the world. When you bind others because you "think" they have the wrong intentions, you are no different from the Christians who want to pray you into submission. So please stop whining about your "persecution". You've got no right to whine when you do it to others! The one thing that is the greatest sign of weakness is hypocracy, something that is being shown here in spades.

I think Kendrah has the right of it. Let the man do his own thing. These days there is too much Pagan Fascism, meaning people of certain paths trying to tell people of other paths what to do or how to act.
He needs to find his own way, and perhaps Wicca isn't even right for him. Maybe you can make this suggestion to him, and from there he might research various traditions until he finds one HE is comfortable with. Or perhaps Wicca in general IS right for him, only his approach to it would be different from yours. Ultimately, it's HIS choice, not yours.

The problem is, if this guy knows what he's doing it's well advised not to let him know you are going to bind him. Much less, ask him to openly accept the bind. Cuz if he doesn't, he can stop it from occuring.
Yes, he can't stop you from casting a binding ritual, but some shields are built so magnificently that the effects of a binding could bounce back on the caster! I bring my shield up almost every day, which blocks a lot of "attacks", such as some minor binding spells.
If you really want to bind someone that knows what they're doing you're going to need the help of a coven. You're going to need all the power you can get, and some masterfully done spellwork. Those are some of the problems with encountering a lot of what some people call "black witches". Cuz they're used to binding attempts and getting dark arts thrown back at them.
Now, if this guy doesn't mean to harm anyone then I would allow him to continue on with his practices and get people close to him to help him learn about the energies of the earth. I think what they really want here is for him to slow down a bit and make every move with the proper intentions.
What I ask is: Did the people asking for the binding really have the best intentions? Did they not feel intimidated or overpowered by his abilities to work with magick? A lot of times people will ask for something like this because they wish they could achieve what this person is doing, but feel that they never will be able to and therefore don't want to see someone else having all the fun!
