 Sorry 'bout that. Not that age is that big of a deal.

But seriously, when I was young, there was no place like this, where you could come and share and learn. So any learning was by experience, which meant trial and error. Trial if you got caught thinking, saying, or doing anything that was mis-understood by all the "normal"people around. And error, which happened a lot (I think there are allowances for honest seekers who mess up when they are young...there must have been, or I wouldn't still be here).

Some older people in my life thought that their age made them all-knowing, so I decided that when I got older, I would learn from those of any age, as wisdom is not a respecter of age, only of those willing to seek it.

Hey you just described my dad. A 72 yr old man who believes he cant learn anything from anybody below the age of 50, I swear!!

I think i spent too much of my life trying to show my parents that kids can teach you lessons to. (I wanted to teach them how to behave appropriately aka do what I wanted them to do) But they wont learn anything from me and I was wasting too much energy on trying.

They are old stubborn Christians anywayz, but I love them.

Learning is great no matter what age you are.

blessed be

My daughter is 23, and she has studied with several Native American healers. She studies herbals and crystals, and is my little Angel Butterfly(her tribal name). We have, I don't know howdja say it, a "link", you know, she knows what's up with me and I know what's up with her.

I respect the time and energy she has dedicated to healing, and in doing that, the universe has granted her a pure sweetness that touches everyone around her. Also, she has taught me much about life and magick. She has such a pure and honest belief system. She honestly cares about even the smallest of plants and animals that most just take for granted. Touching the gifts of Mother Earth make her happy and she always says,"Thank you." Now that's Magick!

Not really. Think Branch Davidians, Jonestown, and of course Heaven's Gate. It would be better if parents provided tolerant guidance, tried to find out about the beliefs of others, and why their children want to follow them.

This wouldm of course, be going against ethnocentric human nature.

I happen to agree with you Librarian, sorry MoonBaby, I have a very advanced 10 year old son that has taken an interest in Wicca/Paganism, I have only allowed him certain information that is very unbiased.

I have helped him understand the faiths that I was raised in ( which was an interfaith marriage). Teaching him of the different world religions. He has responded greatly with a much desired effect, he is gaining tolerance of others beliefs. Something that he will undoubtly need if he continues on this journey. Where we are Wicca/Paganism is not looked on favorably, it is an extreme Christian based area.

I remember growing up and not feeling right about following my parents paths, but my great-grandmother always seemed to sooth me in a way I did not understand.....she gave me books to read, taught me about herbs, and even subtle magick without me knowing what she was teaching me until I started questioning her did she tell me that it was alright. To this day, I have had to keep it away from my mother who refuses her own grandmother's beliefs of whom her daughter shares. Yes it is a heavy heart at times, but not as heavy as trying to fight what seemed natural to me. I stepped off my journey's path for the last few years and have only begun to renew, refresh, and give myself completely to my journey once again...only to find a serenity that was lost.

Age is a biological number, but with expeirence, comes wisdom, no matter what the age.

Timeless Blessings to all

well i hear where you are coming from. but you have to hear me from my perspective. my mother is an ademit atheist. she says religions cause death destruction and war. she says that people get sucked in and thinks that people make it there life. she said that i shouldnt follow a religion, that ill get sucked in and become a sheep and blah blah blah. she says that "i would like to study religion because i think it is interesting" yeah uh huh. i know this sounds like typical teenage agnst. maybe it is i dont know. all i know is that coming from someone who adimatly denies any religion and says "religions are interesting" then to go to " i just dont want to follow them" then " i dont want you to follow any religion because i have seen people sucked in" its just very frustrating. plus the fact that she hates the fact that i am a little rocker chick and hang out with half the stoners. (but i dont do any of it myself). so im basically deep in the broom closet for her, im also deep in the rainbow closet too (im Bi) but most of my friends know im Bi and they are slowly learing im Pagan. so its so frustrating to me. so when i say i think parents should allow their kids to follow what they want then i think it this way, keep em atheist until they are teenagers. then let em read and research all different religions and let them choose the one they are pulled to. or stay athiest if they want. thats just what i say.

Peace

Might as well bump this thread back to the land of the living :D

A healthy 24, I've been a practicing pagan for about 7-9 years now. not sure on the actual date. Somewhere in highschool :) Not part of a coven, but I am a member of a small circle of friends who have the same beliefs and practices.
