Vanities Insecurities

Savannah Skye

A sheath of fabrication
Wraps around my skin
Covering modest inhibitions
Born out of vanities insecurities

That take the best of us down
With underlying apprehensions
Laced with intentional misgivings
That seduce us with deception

As we stare into a mirror
That reflects our inner mind
Into factions of our soul
Embracing vanities insecurities

That take the best of us down
With underlying apprehensions
Laced with intentional misgivings
That seduce us with deception

Gives us false comfort
Like a shot of whiskey
Running down our throat
To coax down life's bitter pill

When our directional purpose
Is thrown way off course
Straight into a chaotic sea
Of erratic vanities insecurities

That take the best of us down
With underlying apprehensions
Laced with intentional misgivings
That seduce us with deception

As they wander around our mind
Creating neurosis that we count
On the ends of anxious hands
Worn over by time's passing

That lulls us into a sleep
With childhood memories
That wake within our dreams
Infantile vanities insecurities

That take the best of us down
With underlying apprehensions
Laced with intentional misgivings
That seduce us with deception

As we avidly search
For the uninhibited truth
Of our inherent nature
Lying dormant beneath

Lying quietly underneath
Future's intended fate
That's cunningly camouflaged
By vanities insecurities

That take the best of us down
With underlying apprehensions
Laced with intentional misgivings
That seduce us with deception
